First Full Weekend Shutdown of Cranberry AC Tube to Begin

The subway tunnel that carries the A SubwayC Subway Lines between Manhattan and Brooklyn under the East River will be shut down in both directions this weekend as part of 40 nonconsecutive weekends of repairs to fix integral components heavily damaged during Superstorm Sandy.

MTA New York City Transit: Trash Can Free Stations Pilot Yields Positive Results

Results of the ongoing MTA New York City Transit pilot removing trash cans from a total of 39 subway stations show a significant decrease in the amount of trash bags collected from these stations. The results show a 66% reduction in the number of bags collected at Phase 1 and Phase 2 stations, and a 36% reduction in the number of bags collected at Phase 3 stations.

FASTRACK Returns to the R in Brooklyn

For the first time this year, MTA New York City Transit’s FASTRACK program returns to stations along the R Subway Fourth Avenue line in Bay Ridge and Sunset Park, Brooklyn for two consecutive weeks. Beginning Monday, July 27, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for four consecutive weeknights, and from Monday, August 3, to early morning Friday, August 7, R Subway trains will not stop at stations between Bay Ridge-95 St and 36 St.
