MTA's Fulton Center Awarded LEED® Silver Rating

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has been awarded LEED® Silver certification for the Fulton Center on Broadway between Fulton and Dey Streets in Manhattan’s Financial District. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used third-party verification for green buildings.

MTA New York City Transit Bus Hackathon Yields Three Winners

Winners were chosen from among the approximately 150 app developers, planners and transit fans who participated in MTA New York City Transit’s first hackathon focused on transforming the Staten Island bus network last week. Judges awarded a total of $2,000 in cash prizes to three ideas that either partially or wholly focused on streamlining express bus service between Staten Island and Manhattan.

Governor Cuomo Announces Significant Upgrade of MTA Bus Fleet, With More Than 2,000 New State-of-the-Art Buses to be Added Over Next 5 Years

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the MTA would add 2,042 state-of-the-art new buses to its transportation fleet over the next five years. The Governor, joined by MTA Chairman and CEO Thomas Prendergast and MTA New York City Transit President Ronnie Hakim, introduced the next generation vehicles to the public, as well as previewed enhanced amenities like USB charging ports and Wi-Fi. The new buses, which will replace nearly 40 percent of the MTA’s current fleet and represent a $1.3 billion investment of Capital Program resources, will begin hitting streets next month.
