MTA Update for L Train Riders

As you know the MTA had previously scheduled a complete shutdown of the L Subway train beginning April 27. The disruption of service was to allow reconstruction of the two tubes between Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Statement from Amtrak and MTA Officials Regarding L Train Project

“Today, MTA officials met with Amtrak leadership to provide a briefing on the L Subway Train project.  On January 3rd, the MTA accepted recommendations of an expert review panel that the L Subway Train tunnel could be repaired while averting a closure.

NYC Transit Warns Against Walking or Riding Between Subway Cars

MTA NYC Transit officials are warning customers of the dangers of walking or riding between subway cars, with a new public service announcement campaign that started last week and continues to be in development.

Seven people died while walking or riding between subway cars in 2018, including four people in December alone. Five people died during such activity in 2017, and another five in 2016.

Critical Track and Switch Reconstruction on J Line Planned Near Jamaica Center

MTA New York City Transit will be rebuilding a portion of the j line in Queens, including all tracks and switches, to ensure safe and reliable service near the line’s Jamaica Center terminal over a period of 9 days of lower ridership starting later this month.
