Madison Square Garden is home to New York Knicks basketball, New York Rangers hockey, and New York Liberty women's basketball. Located at 33rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, the Garden is one of the easiest to reach sports venues in the region. It is served by 14 subway lines and can be reached by all other lines (including the three shuttle lines) generally with a single transfer. The Garden sits atop Penn Station, the terminal of the Long Island Rail Road. There are also four bus lines that stop within a block of the site. And for Metro-North riders, it's just two subway stops away from Grand Central.

By Subway

All of Manhattan's West Side trains converge within a block of the Garden. You can reach it from:

• at 34 St-Herald Sq station, just a block away from the Garden at 6th Avenue

From the East Side, take the to Grand Central. At Grand Central transfer to the 42nd St Shuttle to Times Square-42 St, then the to 34 St-Penn Station.

By Bus

You can use the M10 or M20 bus routes, which run south on 7th Avenue and north on 8th, or the M16 or M34 which run east and west on 34th Street, a block away from the Garden.

You can also reach the Garden via the X1, X10, X17 express buses. The X1 will take you to 6th Avenue at 35th Street. Walk two blocks south and one west to the Garden. The X10, X17 go to Madison Avenue and 34th Street; transfer to the M16 or M34 and ride crosstown to 7th Avenue.

All Manhattan-bound LIRR trains terminate at Penn Station, right under the Garden, making the site a convenient trip from all points on Long Island. Depending on your departure point, you may have to change at Jamaica for service to Manhattan.
