Metro-North Prepared for Afternoon Rush

Metro-North Railroad, which carried about half of its normal rush hour ridership this morning, will operate 75% of its normal evening rush hour schedule today, across all lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven.
Some local and express trains will be combined and will make additional stops.  Consolidated trains will depart from Grand Central at the later of the two times so no one will “just miss” the train to their station.
The trains to be combined were chosen to minimize customer impacts and to get everyone home within 10-15 minutes of their normal time. The schedule is available at
Beginning at 9 p.m., Metro-North will go to hourly service for the remainder of the day.  On Thursday morning, the railroad intends to operate a normal AM peak service.
Most of Metro-North’s service territory is under a foot of snow and overnight temperatures are expected to be in the single digits. Because of the continued winter weather, the railroad may experience weather-related problems.  Customers should check the website, listen for announcements at their stations, and sign up for email alerts.
In winter storms, conditions can and do change at a moment’s notice. Please check our schedules page for more info or our Service Status box  for the most up-to-date information. For immediate notice of service changes, sign up for email or text alerts at
