MTA Offers Extra Service for Thanksgiving Holiday Travel
MTA Metro-North Railroad, MTA Long Island Rail Road and MTA Staten Island Railway are providing customers extra train service for the Thanksgiving holiday. In addition to the extra trains, the LIRR and Metro-North will be adding cars to select trains to accommodate customers attending the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or visiting family and friends.
Long Island Rail Road President Helena Williams said: "Thanksgiving Day is one of the LIRR's busiest holiday travel days. We have added service on both the eve of the holiday and Thanksgiving Day to make sure our customers get where they are going safely and reliably. Since travel Thanksgiving Day through Sunday is at off peak rates, we advise parents traveling with children to take advantage of our special family fare. And, remember to hold your child's hand when entering and exiting trains."
"With everyone trying to get somewhere over the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend, why not avoid the traffic and take the train? Metro-North has special service to get you where you need to go, when you need to go - hassle-free," said Metro-North President Howard Permut. "We have extra trains and longer trains and after a big meal, you can nap on the way home."
