Avoid High Gas Prices: Take the Train or Bus and Save!
There's no need to feel pain at the pump. High fuel prices means there is no better time to take mass transit to get to where you need to go. In fact, a report released this week by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) says New Yorkers can save nearly $15,000 a year by leaving the car at home and hopping on a train or bus instead.
New York topped all major cities in savings where taking a train or bus saves commuters a whopping $1,229 a month. APTA released its Transit Savings Report to gauge how switching from driving to riding mass transit can significantly cut an individual's monthly and yearly transportation costs.
