Take the Train to the Parade!

There's no better way to do your holiday shopping than utilizing the MTA to avoid the traffic and aggravation during these gridlock alert days.

On Black Friday, New York City subways and buses will operate on a weekday schedule with some exceptions.There is no Limited Stop service in Staten Island on the S81, S86, S90, S91, S92, S94, S96 and S98 or in Queens on the Q6, Q25 and Q65.All other subways, local, limited, SBS and express buses will operate on a weekday schedule.There will be less service, especially during rush hours, on selected IRT subway lines and most bus routes due to expected lower ridership levels as fewer people are going to work or school.

A regular weekend schedule will be in effect Saturday and Sunday.

Metro-North will operate a "Saturday" schedule on Black Friday with a lot of extra service during the AM and PM peaks, as well as inbound between 10 AM and 2 PM. It is NOT a normal weekday schedule, but there is plenty of service for both shoppers and those who are working to pay for it all.

Customers should take advantage of Metro-North's weekend Shoppers' Specials service on the Hudson and New Haven lines.

On the New Haven Line, 22 Shoppers' Special express trains will operate on Saturdays from November 19th to December 17. On Sundays, 21 Shoppers' Specials will run from November 20 to December 18.

On the Hudson Line; there are two Saturday-only express Shoppers' Specials. These trains depart Poughkeepsie at 9:28 AM and 10:28 AM and makes stops at New Hamburg, Beacon and Peekskill.

There is frequent weekend service on our Harlem Line, so please feel free to "shop ‘til you drop."

On Black Friday, Long Island Rail Road will run a full weekday train schedule even though off-peak fares will be in effect all day -- including the special Family Fare discount.Under the Family Fare program, up to four children, ages 5-11, can ride trains that day for the advance purchase fare of 75 cents each (one-way) when accompanied by a fare-paying parent or guardian. Weekly and monthly ticket holders just pay for the kids. Children under five ride free.

A regular weekend schedule will be in effect Saturday and Sunday.

Additionally, to ease travel for its customers that need to drive this Thanksgiving, routine maintenance and temporary construction work at all MTA Bridges and Tunnels crossings will be suspended beginning Noon on Wednesday, Nov. 23, until early Monday morning, Nov. 28.
