MTA Customers Can Now Refill Unlimited-Ride MetroCards

Compounding the already impressive convenience of MetroCard, customers can now refill their 7-day and 30-day unlimited-ride cards.

Doing so is great for the environment and ensures that riders will never run out of rides.

Cards can be refilled at MetroCard Vending Machines (MVMs) and station booths, but only for the initially purchased amount. So, if customers originally purchased a 7-day unlimited ride card they can refill it only with an additional 7 days. If their choice was a 30-day card, then it can only be refilled with another 30-day purchase.

Refilling at an MVM is easy; just press "MetroCard" then "Refill Your Card" and follow the instructions.

It is important to note that a 7-Day express Bus Plus MetroCard can only be refilled with a 7-Day Express Bus Plus MetroCard.

Customers can refill their cards at any time after they have been activated, but they will only begin using the refill after the original purchase time runs out. Oh, and cards will only store one refill at a time.

This is yet another means in which customers can refill their MetroCards. Riders using 30-day unlimited cards can also use EasyPayXpress which offers account-based automatic refills that don't require any interaction with a machine or standing in line.
