Enjoy Governors Island

An iconic island 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, Governors Island welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors to enjoy a diverse array of arts, cultural and recreational programs throughout the public season. The Island has become known as New York City's "Playground for the Arts," hosting cultural events, food festivals, concerts, performances and much more on weekends through the end of September.

Swipe your MetroCard and take the 1 train to South Ferry, the 4 Subway5 Subway to Bowling Green, the
R Subway train to Whitehall Street or the M5, M15, SBS M15, or M20 bus, and then take the Governors Island Ferry from the Battery Maritime Building, Slip 7.

A free ferry also sails from Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6 off Atlantic Avenue and Columbia Street, on Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays.  Take the
