N.Y. Transit Museum Hosts First Transit Trivia Night
Save the Date: Thursday, January 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
How many stops is it to Times Square? Is this train going over the bridge or through the Tunnel? Can I catch the F train at Broadway-Lafayette? Does this train stop at...?
In the New York City subway system, the only things more numerous than the trains are the questions. With a rolling population of nearly 5.7 million customers a day, people are always asking....something. But if you’re looking for a somewhat tougher set of queries, you are going to have to head over to the New York Transit Museum in Downtown Brooklyn for their first-ever underground trivia battle.
Questions will focus on the songs, films and legends associated with the greatest subway system in the world, which will make for an interesting mix of transit trivia and pop culture. The contest will be conducted in a team format led by trivia masters Stuart Post and Chris Kelley. You can bring your own two-to-six person team or meet new friends and form one on the spot.
“This is a great way to spend an evening, battling for transit trivia dominance while surrounded by New York City mass transit history going back more than a century,” said New York Transit Museum Director Gabrielle Shubert. “We are looking forward to a great event and a lot of right answers to a lot of tough questions.”
There will be prizes for the winners and the opportunity to explore the museum both prior to the event and during the intermission. Admission is $15 ($10 for museum members and members of Transportation Alternatives.) Tickets can be purchased online at www.mta.info/museum and refreshments will be served.
Now what's so tough about that?
