Look Out! MetroCard Advertising Now Appearing
Don’t be surprised if you receive a red MetroCard instead of a yellow one this month. It means you’ve received one of a million MetroCards that are being distributed in July featuring an advertisement promoting Resorts World Casino in Queens.
Following a successful ad campaigns in 2012 including Gap, Audible.com and Simple Mobile, the casino is the first advertiser to take over the front of MetroCards in 2013. Relaunched in 2012, the MetroCard advertising program generated $684,000 in net revenue for the MTA in its first year.
“We are very pleased with the continued interest in MetroCard advertising,” said Paul J. Fleuranges, MTA's Director of Corporate and Internal Communications. “It is proving to be one of the most unique and personal ways to reach millions of New Yorkers.”
Resorts World has selected MetroCard advertising to highlight the convenience of getting to the casino, which is accessible by taking the A to Aqueduct-North Conduit Av, the , , or LIRR to Jamaica-Sutphin Blvd. for a shuttle, or the Q37 bus.
“We are thrilled that Resorts World Casino New York City is now fully accessible by train – and we are eager to spread the word,” said Resorts World President Michael Speller. “In our first year, more than 10 million New Yorkers and tourists visited Resorts World Casino; our new partnership with the MTA will allow even more visitors to have a one-of-a-kind experience at our facility.”
Before going systemwide, the special Resorts World MetroCards are being made available at a select group of high-volume stations in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan:
