Regular Metro-North Hudson Line service remains suspended until further notice due to a freight train derailment Thursday night in the vicinity of Spuyten Duyvil station.  The cause of the accident, which involved ten cars of a 24-car CSX train hauling garbage and other materials, remains under investigation.

Metro-North and CSX workers continue efforts to remove the freight cars that derailed while service on the Hudson Line continues to operate between Poughkeepsie and Yonkers with a bus connection to the subway for service in and out of Manhattan.

Limited Hudson Line service will operate between Poughkeepsie and Yonkers stations, including hourly service. This arrangement will continue through Friday evening and all weekend to give railroad forces free and unimpeded access to the damaged tracks.

“With three days, we believe Metro-North forces will be able to clear the wreck, rebuild the infrastructure and test all systems in time to provide regular train service come Monday morning,” said Metro-North President Howard Permut.  “Our crews have been working hard in very difficult conditions – around the clock in blazing heat and humidity.  They deserve high praise and gratitude.”

Metro-North expects to have regular Hudson Line service restored for the AM Peak on Monday, July 22, with possible delays. Until then, customers are strongly recommended to make alternate service plans.

Customers are urged to use the Harlem Line for points of travel north and south. Hudson Line tickets will be honored on the Harlem Line and Metro-North Hudson Line parking permits will be honored at Harlem Line parking facilities operated by LAZ.

For southbound service, limited train service will operate between Poughkeepsie and Yonkers stations only and connect with shuttle bus service to Van Cortlandt Park-242 Street for 1 Subway Line Icon service into Manhattan.

For northbound service between Yonkers and Poughkeepsie stations only, customers should take the S Subway Line Icon Shuttle or 7 Subway Line Icon from 42nd St - Grand Central to 42nd St - Times Square for 1 Subway Line Icon  to Van Cortlandt Park-242 Street. Bus service will operate to Yonkers Station and connect with limited train service to Poughkeepsie.

Special schedules to/from Yonkers and Poughkeepsie stations are posted on our schedules page.
Customers between Riverdale and Yankees-E.153rd Street stations are urged to use NYCT subway and/or bus service.  Ludlow customers should use Yonkers Station.

Hudson Rail Link service will operate to the 1 Subway Line Icon (on Friday only).

Free subway transfers will be provided.

Please listen for announcements at your station and continue to check the news media and monitor Service Status for updates.
