Award-winning sculpture gardens. Free jazz concerts. A tour through America’s military history. The Hudson Valley is ready and waiting to make your fall getaways unforgettable. Now, ride Metro-North and then hit the road with Zipcar to explore these destinations and beyond.

Metro-North Railroad has expanded Ride2Drive, a program that makes Zipcars available at select Metro-North stations, to four more East of Hudson stations and two West of Hudson stations. Metro-North customers who join Zipcar, can now access a total of 26 vehicles at 15 Metro-North stations. With the expansion of the Ride2Drive program, Metro-North offers new Hudson Valley getaway packages, all within easy reach from select stations via Zipcar.

In February 2017, Metro-North rolled out its Ride2Drive program, making Zipcars available at nine Hudson Valley stations along the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines:

  • Harlem Line: North White Plains and Woodlawn
  • Hudson Line: Poughkeepsie and Beacon
  • New Haven Line: Port Chester, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Pelham and Mount Vernon East

The program has expanded to an additional four East of Hudson stations and two West of Hudson stations:

  • Harlem Line: Southeast
  • Hudson Line: Irvington, Tarrytown and Peekskill
  • Pascack Valley Line: Spring Valley and Pearl River

Zipcars are parked in dedicated, clearly marked parking spaces at Metro-North stations, and they are available for reservation by the hour or the day. Each Zipcar reservation includes gas, insurance, maintenance and 180 miles of driving per day.

“We’re always looking for ways to better serve our customers, and we’re pleased we can make Zipcar a travel option for more people,” said Catherine Rinaldi, Acting President of Metro-North Railroad. “With the ease of simply stepping off a train and into a Zipcar, Ride2Drive gives Metro-North customers who don’t have access to a personal car greater mobility and a hassle free way to extend their trips, sightsee and learn more about what the region has to offer.”

“Ride2Drive is an exciting program that we’re eager to expand. Together, Zipcar’s car-sharing service and Metro-North offer greater connectivity throughout the Hudson Valley and the ability to live car-free or car-lite,” said Chris Moulding, Zipcar regional community marketing manager. “Metro-North riders can go from the train seat to the driver’s seat in a matter of minutes, making it easy to explore the local area without a personal car.”
