Responsibilities:

Training Program Assistant responsibilities include, (but not limited to):

  1. Assist with creating, updating and formatting  Power Point slide shows
  2. Assist in technical and creative program and program material design
  3. Research and organize information through via multiple sources (including Internet)
  4. Organize and update training reports and provide administrative assistance
  5. Travel to nearby facilities to assist with various aspects of training

Special Qualifications or Background Needed:      

Candidates should be adept communicators who are interested in further developing verbal and written skills; proficiency in Microsoft applications is required along with the ability to work in a diverse, professional, administrative and creative environment.

Overview of Dept/Division:

Marketing & Service Information is a division of the Corporate Communications department.  We develop subway, bus, and MetroCard customer communications, including subway and bus ads and Web content; provide marketing expertise and creative direction for NYC Transit employee communications; develop strategic partnerships and marketing strategies, such as sweepstakes and promotions, to achieve NYC Transit’s business goals; and develop awareness programs to assist customers.

Responsibilities:

Check news for stories about NYC Transit or our marketing partners; research print and online travel publications for accuracy and influential travel blogs for mentions about our campaigns; verify links on our tourism web pages; gather activities for our monthly events calendar; transcribe podcast interviews as needed; participate in marketing events; distribute sample materials; perform other administrative duties as requested.

Special Qualifications or Background Needed:       (Including computer skills)

  • Candidate should be interested in working with account executives, graphic designers, and production unit as we develop print, TV, PR, and online media campaigns for MetroCard promotions, special events, travel and tourism, and internal clients.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Overview of Dept/Division:
MTA New York City Transit’s Department of Corporate Communications is responsible for ensuring consistency of corporate identity and style in the creation, production and dissemination of information concerning NYC Transit policy and customer information to the press, customers, and employees through all external and internal media. Specifically, Corporate Communications:

  • Develops press releases and employee communications materials issued by the Division of Public Affairs
  • Creates public awareness campaigns, service notices and Web content on Transit’s web page: www.mta.info  produced by the Division of Marketing
  • Writes courteous and factual responses to customer inquiries regarding bus and subway service by phone, and via e-mail provided by the Division of Customer Services
  • Provides satisfactory resolution of MetroCard-related customer inquiries and timely Reduced Fare MetroCard application processing and problem resolution through the Division of Customer Relations

 Responsibilities:
Students are in contact with the general public and will be trained and assigned to handle customer calls on the MetroCard/reduce fare and customer service lines.  Students will be required to address questions concerning policies, procedures and claims regarding the MetroCard and handle customer complaints.

Overview of Dept/Division:
Public Affairs includes the Press Office on another floor, and staff photographers, all of whom report to the VP of Corporate Communications. In addition to the newsletters, the Employee Communications unit includes Transit Transit News, a monthly cable program covering public transportation, NYC Transit employees, New York City highlights and related stories.

Responsibilities:
Students are asked to assist with researching and writing stories for newsletters, and related work, as part of Employee Communications efforts.

Special Qualifications or Background Needed:
Familiarity with, and interest in, print journalism, with reporting and writing skills, ability to attend events, conduct in-person or phone interviews, do research, grasp context of the agency s role in New York City public transit, and possibly suggest story ideas for our employee audience. Enterprise reporting is welcome, journalism experience essential. Weekly News job also requires e-newsletter layout savvy.

Overview of Dept/Division:
The Work Train Unit Supports Maintenance of Way (MOW) and Capital Construction projects by providing work trains which move equipment and materials to the worksite.  The unit is responsible for transferring revenue cars for scheduled maintenance, major repairs, scrap car removal off property, new car delivery and special events.  Also, the Work Train Unit moves all work equipment for emergencies, floods and major snowstorms, etc.

Responsibilities:  
The incumbent will be part of a team of NYC Transit supervisors responsible for organizing NYC Transit protocol into industrial training films and training manuals; specifically formulated for the needs of the work train unit, with the ultimate goal being a reduction in employee injuries and industrial accidents and incidents.

Special Qualifications or Background Needed:    

  • The ability to formulate a script and lesson plan for the filming and editing of safety related training videos.
  • Experience in Electronic, Print and Video Media for formulation of employee development initiatives.

Overview of Dept/Division: TIS is one of the many divisions under the Department of the Executive Vice President. Its mission is to partner with our customers in high quality, business-driven, cost-effective information technology services. This assignment will be in the Technology Partnering Customer Relationship Management Unit that is responsible for providing enhanced technology services that are valued by TIS customers and Operating/Support Divisions throughout NYCT. The unit is staffed with Customer Relationship Managers (CRM) who provides services that focus on building relationships, understanding customer business, coordinating and facilitating solutions to information technology issues, offering new technology products to meet business needs, Quality Assurance and Marketing.

Responsibilities: The Technology Analyst interns will plan, develop, and coordinate the first NYCT Business Technology (BTech) Fair. This Fair will showcase the current, near-term and long-term technology initiatives that drive the various businesses in NYCT. Current initiatives include timekeeping, desktop and computerized maintenance management systems; near-term initiatives that will change the way we do business in the future include global positioning satellite tracking and service management systems for fixed route buses and paratransit, automated train supervision management systems, real-time customer information systems at the subway stations and bus stops; and long-term initiatives being tested include virtualization of computer systems software, RFID systems, mobile/ handheld information management systems and several others. These interns will be working with the business units and CRMs assigned to Subways, Buses, Engineering and Construction Departments, and the remaining support departments. They will investigate which technologies will be appropriate to include in the fair, collect data and assist in putting together the marketing portfolio and developing the technical, field and off-field demonstration programs, coordinate any support for manning of the technology booths and ensure that the fair is administered successfully.
