Responsibilities: You will maintain and repair mobile and fixed electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, including machine shop equipment, in NYC Transit bus depots.
Exper. & Educ.: Three years of full-time satisfactory journey-level (fully trained mechanic) experience performing the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment typically used in construction or in industrial facilities, such as cranes, pneumatic compressors, hydraulic pumps and lifts, drills, pile drivers, pay loaders, earthmovers, tractors, gasoline and diesel engines, hi-los, forklifts, jacks, conveyors, generators, and pressure washers. For the above journey-level experience to be credited, it must be preceded by one of the following: (1) two years of helper/trainee experience as listed above; or (2) graduation from a vocational high school, or a post-secondary trade or technical school, or college with a major in the electrical or mechanical fields. Driver License Requirement: You must have either: 1. A Class B Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York and no restrictions; or 2. A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York and a Learner Permit for a Class B Commercial Driver License with no restrictions. If you are hired, you must take and pass an examination and be appointed from an eligible list to obtain permanent civil service status.

Responsibilities: You will perform sheet metal work in Transit’s subway and elevated structures, including stations, enclosures and related buildings.
Exper. & Educ.: 1. Four years of full-time satisfactory journey-level experience as a sheet metal worker journey-level, fabricating sheet metal from blue prints using sheet metal machinery and shop tools; or 2. Three years of experience as described in “1” above , plus graduation from a recognized trade school or technical school with a major course of study in sheet metal, or a closely related field, totaling at least 600 hours. License Requirement: A motor vehicle driver license valid in the state of New York with no restrictions is required.
