Title of College Aide Position: Ridership Analyst Support Aide
Number of Positions: 1
Major(s) Preferred: Statistics, Transportation Planning
Overview of Dept/Division:
The Revenue and Ridership Analysis unit in OMB is responsible for reporting usage of NYC Transit subway and bus services, analyzing trends in ridership and revenue, and responding to data requests from internal and external parties.

At many stations, High Entry/Exit Turnstiles (HEETs) have been added in recent years allowing customers to enter through areas that were previously exit-only. This project will first use station diagrams, turnstile-level ridership data, and field information to develop an updated database of station entry locations to which ridership can be assigned. The intern will then use the more detailed station data to analyze the ridership changes (e.g., shifting between entry points) after the HEETs were added.
Special Qualifications or Background Needed:
The intern will use station drawings and field visits to identify customer entry points to the subway system. The analysis phase of the project will use programs such as Microsoft Excel and Access. Knowledge of transportation, and specific knowledge of the NYC transit network, are desirable.
