TIPS on Using AAR

3-Way Trips
Have you ever wanted to meet a friend, travel together to another location such as a shopping center, and then return home? Here's how to do it. We'll use an example of a trip to a shopping center:
Call AAR and tell the reservationist you are reserving a "3-Way Trip."
• Reserve a pick-up where your trip begins and a drop-off at your friend's location.

• Reserve a pick-up for you and your friend at your friend's location, and drop-off at the shopping center.

• Reserve a pick-up for you and your friend at the shopping center and a return to your final destination, whether that is your location or your friend's location.

Note: If your friend is not traveling to your final destination, she/he will have to make separate travel arrangements. (Guests and Personal Care Assistants must travel to and from the same place as the customer.) There is a one-hour wait time between scheduled pick-up times. (Using our example, there would be an hour's wait between your drop-off at your friend's location and your trip together to the shopping center.)

AAR Designated Pick-Up Locations
In 2003, the Paratransit Advisory Committee (PAC) requested that we designate pick-up/drop-off sites at locations where customers and vehicles often missed each other. NYC Transit and the NYC Department of Transportation began working together to identify pick-up/drop-off sites near such locations. The list was developed and is distributed to customers on request.

However, customers must continue to make reservations for trips to and from locations with designated pick-up and drop-off sites. When reserving trips to these locations, the reservationists will inform customers where the site is located. A copy of the site list may be obtained by calling our customer service line 877-337-2017 or by e-mail to emcqua@nyct.com or by going to the MTA website at www.mta.info.
