Vice President's Notes
|
Dear Access-A-Ride Customer:
In mid-November, I had the privilege of meeting with a delegation from the government of Moscow, Russia. They were visiting the United States to learn about transportation programs, including paratransit. They had meetings with staff at the Federal Transit Administration, with transit providers in the Washington D.C. area, and with Chairman Kalikow at the MTA, here in New York City. One of their major interests during the visit was to learn about paratransit service in the United States. In order to do this they came to visit NYC Transit Paratransit, the largest provider of paratransit services in the world. We had a great exchange of ideas. They were amazed to learn of the number of trips - 12,000 on an average weekday last November - that Access-A-Ride (AAR) provides. We discussed the many issues of providing transportation service to individuals with disabilities. This discussion is their first step in providing paratransit service in Moscow. Watching the growth of our paratransit division and the improvements in customer service are the most rewarding part of being vice president of the division. I send you wishes for a very happy and healthy New Year and look forward to serving you in the days ahead. |
