Riding the Bus Costs $2.25
Driving in the Bus Lane Costs $115

Goal: Faster Bus Service
The MTA's 2.5 million daily bus riders are held hostage to crawling city traffic while parked cars and delivery trucks routinely block bus lanes.
The MTA has partnered with the New York City Department of Transportation to speed up bus service by improving bus lane markings and signage, using on-the-spot ticketing, and deploying cameras along highly congested Select Bus Service corridors. Lanes are clearly marked "Bus Only" and your cooperation will help us improve bus service for more than two million riders daily. The fine for violations is $115 or more.
Select Bus Service gets people and buses moving faster, with off-board fare collection, boarding through three doors and, coming soon, traffic signal priority. Enforcement of bus lanes will help keep bus lanes clear and ensure that bus riders enjoy the many benefits of Select Bus Service.
