Brighton Beach

This beach community is known for its Russian restaurants, nightclubs, fruit stands, and bookstores.
Subway Services: to Brighton Beach station
Bus Services: B1, B68 To Brighton Beach Avenue

 

Coney Island

In addition to the beach, also known for its boardwalk, rides, attractions, hot dogs. Fireworks on the beach every Friday during the summer at 9:30 p.m.
Subway Services: to Coney Island/Stillwell Av station
Bus Services: B36, B64, B68, B74 or B82 to the Stillwell Terminal

 

Manhattan Beach

A sandy half-mile long beach situated in a lovely park at the west end of the Coney Island Peninsula.
Subway/Bus Services: to Brighton Beach Station, then B1 to Oriental Blvd./Oriental Loop, or
or to Sheepshead Bay Station, then B49 to Oriental Blvd./Oriental Loop

 

Orchard Beach

The 115-acre, 1.1 mile-long beach is situated on Long Island Sound and is part of Pelham Bay Park.
Subway/Bus Services: to Pelham Bay Park station, and then the Bx5 (weekends) or Bx12

 

Rockaway Beach

Situated on a peninsula between scenic Jamaica Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, this 7.5-mile stretch boasts white sand beaches, a very long boardwalk (second in length to that in Atlantic City, New Jersey). Visit the annual New York Kite Festival at Gateway National Recreation Area - the first urban national park.
Subway Services: to Far Rockaway/Mott Av station, or transfer at the Broad Channel station to catch the Rockaway Park/Beach116 St or to points between Beach 90th St and Beach 116th St stations.

Long Island Beaches

MTA can also take you to the beaches in Long Island. Long Island Rail Road has special packages for trips to Jones Beach, Long Beach, and Fire Island. Or during the summer, you can take Long Island Bus to Jones Beach.
