Bronx-Whitestone Bridge 2 Queens-bound Lanes Closed Overnight For Two Nights
Two of three southbound lanes at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge heading into Queens will be closed overnight on two nights next week for the installation of new steel girders.
The work, which is part of the $109 million Queens approach rehabilitation and reconstruction project, will take place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Mon., June 2-Tues., June 3 and Tues., June 3-Wed., June 4. All work is dependent on good weather.
Motorists should expect delays. Drivers are urged to use the Throgs Neck Bridge as an alternate route.
The Queens approach project is being done by contractors E.E. Cruz, of Manhattan, and Tully Construction Co. Work began in July 2011 and is expected to be completed in early 2015.
