Second Highest Number of Trips on MTA Bridges and Tunnels Crossings in 2006, with 302 Million

The nine crossings of MTA Bridges and Tunnels handled 302 million trips in 2006, a 0.5% increase over 2005 and the second highest volume in its 70 year operating history, reflecting a strong regional economy. The highest traffic was in 2004 at 302.9 trips.

E-ZPass use continues to grow on one of the largest electronic toll collection systems in the world. A total of 74% of all Bridges and Tunnels traffic used E-ZPass in January, slightly ahead of the previous year. Customers can sign up for E-ZPass at www.e-zpassNY.com; calling 800-333-TOLL; or asking for an application in a cash toll lane at any MTA crossing.
