UPDATES PREVIOUSLY SENT ADVISORY WITH WORK CHANGED TO QUEENS-BOUND TUBE:
One Tube At Queens Midtown Tunnel This Weekend

The Queens-bound (south) tube at the Queens Midtown Tunnel will be closed to traffic from 2 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday July 27 through July 29 for necessary construction work. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use an alternate route.

Two-way traffic will be in effect in the remaining tube for cars and NYCT buses. Commercial traffic must use an alternate route while two-way traffic is in effect.

The work is being done by Restani/Excellent Paving, of Astoria, Queens, and will include joint repairs, paving and striping work, and necessary inspections.

The following detour will be in place:

  • Motorists driving from Manhattan to Queens can enter the tunnel at 34th Street between Second and Third avenues.
  • Motorists driving into Manhattan from Queens will exit normally at the 37th Street and Tunnel exit for uptown.
  • Downtown traffic will use the Marginal tunnel exit to 38th Street and then to Second Avenue. The 34th Street and Second Avenue ramps will be closed to traffic exiting in Manhattan.

Traffic agents and signs will be in place to help direct motorists. This weekend’s work is being coordinated with New York State Department of Transportation work on the Long Island Expressway to minimize impacts to traffic.
