The westbound upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be closed Monday night into Tuesday morning and there will be a full closure of the upper level of the bridge in both directions Tuesday night into Wednesday for the continued removal of steel sign gantries.
Motorists will be able to use the lower level of the bridge, which will remain fully open while this work is done.
Vehicles carrying hazardous materials will not be able to cross the bridge westbound into Staten Island from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday into Tuesday morning. They will not be permitted across the bridge in either direction Tuesday night into Wednesday morning from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. eastbound and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. westbound, and must use an alternate route.
Trucks that are more than 13-feet-6-inches tall cannot cross westbound into Staten Island Monday, June 30 into Tuesday, July 1 or in either direction Tues., July 1 into Wed., July 2. These vehicles must use an alternate route.
In addition, vehicles that are more than 17-feet-wide will not be permitted to cross the lower level bridge westbound into Staten Island overnight June 30-July1 or July 1-July 2. There is no restriction on over-wide vehicles on the lower level heading into Brooklyn.
All work is dependent on good weather. The planned schedule is as follows:
June 30-July 1
Westbound, all three upper level lanes closed, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Eastbound, one lane closed, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
July 1-July 2
Westbound all lanes upper level closed, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Eastbound all lanes upper level closed, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
