Buses to Substitute for Select Upper Harlem Line Trains from Monday Evening, August 6, Through Friday, August 10

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that buses will substitute for weekday upper Harlem Line connecting trains from the evening of Monday, August 6, through Friday, August 10.  Diesel thru-train service that operates between this segment of the Harlem Line and Grand Central will not be affected.

This service change is in effect so that crews can make locomotive repairs, perform track maintenance work and make infrastructure improvements to the railroad line. The railroad will put its specialized Sperry Rail car into action on the section of track between Southeast and Wassaic; this high-tech piece of equipment detects defects and metal fatigue inside the steel rails, inspecting them with ultrasonic and induction test equipment. Metro-North crews will also weld track, cut brush and install signal cables.

To accommodate this work, from the evening of Monday, August 6, through Friday, August 10, buses will substitute for train service between Southeast and Wassaic on the Harlem Line.  Buses will operate 20-40 minutes earlier than scheduled trains.

Service details are below:

Southbound:

From Tuesday through Friday, starting with the 8:28 a.m. train from Wassaic, and continuing for the reminder of the day, buses will substitute for train service from Wassaic to Southeast, making all scheduled stops at the following stations: Tenmile River, Dover Plains, Harlem Valley-Wingdale, Pawling and Patterson. Bus service will operate 20-40 minutes earlier than normally scheduled train times. On Monday, the changes begin at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Buses will connect with regularly scheduled trains at Southeast for continuing service to Grand Central Terminal.
