Press Release
February 8, 2013
IMMEDIATE
Metro-North Railroad Reducing Train Frequencies After 8 p.m.

The predicted severity of the winter storm will require Metro-North to further change its scheduled service. These changes are in anticipation of providing the best service to ensure your safety.

Extra trains will continue to operate during the afternoon to help customers return home in advance of the storm. Service during the PM Peak and throughout the remainder of the evening will be further reduced with train combinations and cancelations due to the predicted severity of the storm.

As the evening progresses, train service may be suspended, depending upon weather conditions, to prevent trains from becoming stranded during the storm.

Service plans by time period follow:

  • Between 5:30 to 8 PM, Metro-North will operate on its previously announced reduced schedule. Specific train departure times are available at www.mta.info.
  • Between 8 PM and 1 AM (Sat., 2/9), Metro-North expects to operate limited service as follows:
    • On the New Haven Line and Harlem Line, there will be half-hourly service out of Grand Central and hourly service toward Grand Central.
    • On the Hudson Line, there will be hourly service in both directions.

There is the potential for further service reductions as the severity of the storm intensifies.
