Train Schedules Change April 1st on Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines

New timetables for MTA Metro-North Railroad's Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines, effective April 1, 2007, will reduce running times on all trains to and from Port Jervis, and make changes to Pascack Valley Line service to improve reliability.

In addition, there are changes to Northeast Corridor service that affect Metro-North customers who transfer at Secaucus Junction.

Port Jervis Line:

Just completed track improvements between Sloatsburg and Harriman allow train speeds to be raised on a number of curves. As a result, running time is reduced by 1 minute for all Port Jervis Line trains. Reduced running times do not affect Hoboken and Secaucus arrival and departure times. Instead, inbound trains depart one minute later from all stations Port Jervis through Harriman and outbound trains arrive at all stations Harriman through Port Jervis one minute earlier.

Because of changes to Secaucus Junction connections on two inbound trains , the 5:06 a.m., will now depart Port Jervis a minute later and arrive in Penn Station, New York a minute later, at 7:24 a.m. The 9:27 p.m. will now depart two minutes later, but arrive two minutes earlier at 12:16 a.m., saving customers 4 minutes of travel time to Penn Station.

Pascack Valley Line:

Customers on the 6:24 a.m. New York State express out of Spring Valley will save 9 minutes to midtown via Secaucus because a new connecting train from Secaucus at 7:04 a.m. will arrive earlier into Penn Station, New York at 7:24 a.m. Customers traveling to lower Manhattan via Hoboken will have their overall trip time reduced by 7 minutes.

The afternoon New York State express will depart Hoboken 1 minute later at 5:30 p.m. As a result, customers from Penn Station, New York will depart 5 minutes later and have a 4 minute faster trip overall.

To improve operational reliability, NJ TRANSIT is adding time between trains as well as adding time to the schedules of most trains that make stops in New Jersey. Because of these changes, some trains will require different connections at both Secaucus and Hoboken. In the evening all Penn Station, New York departures are at the same time or later.

All Pascack Valley trains are changing arrival and departure times up to 10 minutes. Customers should pick up a new timetable.

New timetables will be available beginning March 26th at Penn Station, New York, Hoboken and Secaucus. For more information call 800-METRO-INFO (800-638-7646) or visit the website at
