Press Release
February 7, 2013
IMMEDIATE
As Winter Storm Approaches, Metro-North Railroad To Offer Extra Trains Between Noon and 4 p.m.; Service May Be Reduced or Suspended, Especially After 8 p.m.

The predicted severity of the winter storm on Friday, February 8, will require MTA Metro-North Railroad to change its scheduled service. These changes are in anticipation of providing the best service and to ensure customer safety.

There will be extra trains during the early afternoon to help customers return home. This schedule will result in reduced service during the PM peak. Train combinations and cancellations are possible at any time, but will increase in likelihood as the evening progresses to prevent trains from becoming stranded during the storm.

Metro-North will operate a regular weekday schedule until 12 noon.

Between 12 noon and 8 p.m., Metro-North will operate a revised schedule that will have 21 extra trains in the afternoon and fewer trains than usual after 5 p.m. Planned schedules follow below, but customers should always go to www.mta.info to find the latest updated schedule information.

As the evening progresses, train service may be reduced or suspended depending upon weather conditions so that no trains become stranded.

Customers are urged to please take care when traveling during inclement weather and allow for additional travel time. Customers should use extra caution when entering and exiting trains, and on platforms and staircases.
