MTA Chairman E. Virgil Conway today announced the appointment of Mary Jennings Mahon as Deputy Executive Director/General Counsel and Secretary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
She replaces Michael Vaccari, who left to join a private law practice. Chairman Conway said, "It is with great pleasure that I welcome Mary Mahon into her new role at the MTA. We are very fortunate to have someone with her broad experience at both the MTA and in City matters filling this position."
Ms. Mahon joined the MTA in 1996 as First Deputy General Counsel. Before coming to the MTA, she was General Counsel to the Community Development Agency of the City of New York. Previously, Ms. Mahon was Vice President and Manager of the Legal Department of Smith Barney, where she began her legal career. Ms. Mahon received her bachelor's degree from Sarah Lawrence College in 1970 and her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1975.
