E. Virgil Conway, Chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, today announced the selection of five development proposals for the next round of consideration in the sale of the New York Coliseum. Chairman Conway said, "We were very impressed by the quality of the development teams and the creative ways in which they complied with the required design guidelines. The proposals selected for the short list represent the most complete response to the overall goals and criteria outlined in the Request for Proposals."
John S. Dyson, the Mayor's Special Advisor for Economic Development and an MTA Board Member said, "I am pleased with the productive cooperation between the staffs of the MTA, the Department of City Planning, and New York City's Department of Finance. We are looking forward to the same type of cooperation in the months ahead as the City and the MTA come to a final resolution."
The Short List is an interim step in the review of the proposals. MTA will continue to work closely with the City and the Empire State Development Corporation and anticipates making a final selection this summer. The following proposers have been selected for the Short List:
- The Trump Organization in Partnership with Colony Capital Columbus Circle Associates (Forest City Ratner, Daniel Brodsky and Peter Lehrer)
- C. Columbus Centre Partners (Related and Himmel and Company) Companies
- Tishman-Speyer/Mirage/Morgan Stanley Partners
- C. Coliseum Development Partners (Millennium Partners)
