Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman E. Virgil Conway today announced the appointment of Neil S. Yellin as Acting President of MTA Long Island Bus.
Chairman Conway said, "Neil Yellin brings more than 20 years of public management experience to the job. He has served in several senior positions at LI Bus, most recently as deputy to the previous President for the past five years."
Mr. Yellin replaces Helena E. Williams, who stepped down on March 1 after serving as the agency's president since 1993. Mrs. Williams, an attorney, joined a private law practice in Garden City.
Mr. Yellin holds an MPA degree in Administrative Management and Finance from the State University of New York at Albany. He completed the "Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government" from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. A US Navy veteran, Mr. Yellin lives in Merrick with his wife and two children.
