Service Reliability

Service You Can
Count On

Signals are one of the many components the MTA is investing in to keep the system running reliably.

Reliable Service: It means you can depend on the MTA to get where you need to go, when you need to get there. It means your train or bus arrives when you expect it, that it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and that  your trip is always a safe one.

New Yorkers today know they can count on our transportation network, and that has fueled both a 50 percent increase in
ridership over the last 18 years and our region's $1.26 trillion economy—second in the world only to Tokyo. Sustaining this reliability—on a system that's more than 100 years old and runs 24/7—requires constant care and attention. That's why today, the
MTA is investing $18 billion to maintain, replace and improve our system's critical nuts and bolts.
