LIRR Implements Overnight Weekend Alcohol Ban

The MTA Long Island Rail Road reminds customers that beginning Friday, May 18, 2012, alcohol will be prohibited on overnight weekend trains and station platforms in an effort to maintain orderly travel. In implementing the ban, alcoholic beverages (whether in open or closed containers) will not be allowed on all overnight weekend trains between midnight and 5 AM on Friday and Saturday nights.

Alcohol is also prohibited on all LIRR station platforms during these overnight hours.

The MTA police will have an increased presence at Penn Station and throughout the LIRR system to enforce the weekend overnight alcohol restriction.
