Trains pulling in and out, train departure announcements echoing through the concourse, and the ambient hustle and bustle of visitors all make up the typical Grand Central Terminal soundtrack. To help ease back into the daily routine, New York’s most iconic transit hub launches a dedicated Spotify channel featuring a variety of playlists for commuters and visitors to enjoy as they return to everyday life. Grand Central Terminal has teamed up with some of the city’s most iconic musical institutions to offer its visitors an enjoyable experience as they start their day, ride the train home, grab breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), State University of New York (SUNY), City University of New York (CUNY) and Microsoft launched a new virtual hackathon that will seek to harness the remarkable creativity and tech skills of students and professionals in the New York metropolitan region to improve real-time train seating availability information for Metro-North Railroad customers. Registration for the virtual hackathon, which is open to students and tech professionals, begins today and will run through Thursday, July 9. The week-long hackathon will kick off Monday, July 13, and run through Friday, July 17.

MTA Metro-North Railroad announced schedule changes on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines beginning June 15 as trains increase in frequency to accommodate the region’s Phase 1 reopening. The schedule change will further increase overall service to 61% of the Metro-North normal weekday schedule.

The move comes as the MTA prepares for a major resignaling project on the Lexington Avenue 456 lines and the planned retirement of its R62 and R62A fleets that have been in service for more than 30 years.
