Governor Cuomo Announces Cashless Tolling Begins on Rockaway Bridges

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that cashless tolling will begin on the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial and Cross Bay Veterans Bridges starting at 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 30th. Cashless tolling will reduce congestion and improve travel time at Rockaway’s major crossings ahead of the region’s summer travel season. Starting tomorrow, cash and metal tokens will no longer be accepted at either bridge and commuters with leftover bridge tokens are encouraged to transition to E-Z Pass and will be eligible to redeem their tokens for a refund.

Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Toll Plaza Weekend Lane Closures Start April 28th

Two lanes will be closed northbound (Bronx bound) at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge toll plaza, from 10pm Friday, April 28 through 8:00am Saturday, April 29. Two lanes will also be closed Southbound (Queens bound) at the toll plaza from 10pm, Saturday, April 29 through 8:00am, Sunday, April 30. One lane will be open in both directions during these periods.

This work will continue for several more weekends through May, in order to perform necessary roadway reconstruction on the Bronx side of the bridge.

Throgs Neck Bridge Toll Plaza Overnight Lane Closures Start April 27th

A series of overnight lane closures will continue at the Throgs Neck Bridge starting Thursday, April 27th for necessary roadway reconstruction and paving work. The schedule is as follows:

Two northbound lanes closed in the area south of the toll plaza:
• 2 Lanes Northbound 10:00 PM Thursday 4/27 to 5:00 AM Friday 4/28

Weekend Lane Closures at Robert F. Kennedy Bridge/Bronx Approach 4/21 to 4/24/17 and 4/28 to 4/30

One out of two ramp lanes will be closed during two weekends on both the Major Deegan and Bruckner Expressway approach ramps to the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge Bronx span, in the Bronx-to-Manhattan/Queens direction. The first weekend closures will start at 9 p.m. on Friday, April 21, through 5 a.m. Monday, April 24. The second weekend of closures will start at 9 p.m. on Friday, April 28 through 11:59 a.m. Sunday, April 30. One lane will remain open on the approach ramps at all times.

Queens Midtown Tunnel Ongoing Superstorm Sandy Repairs: One Tube Closed Every Weeknight and Weekend

One tube of the Queens Midtown Tunnel will continue to be closed every weekend, starting at an earlier time on Friday nights, from 10:00 p.m. through Monday mornings at 6:00 a.m., to accommodate ongoing Superstorm Sandy restoration work. One lane in each direction will always remain open in the other tube during periods when one tube is closed.

A series of overnight lane closures will continue at the Throgs Neck Bridge starting Wednesday, April 19th for necessary roadway reconstruction and paving work. The schedule is as follows:

Two lanes closed, Southbound (to Queens) only:
• 10:00 PM Wednesday 4/19 to 5:00 AM Thursday 4/20
• 10:00 PM Thursday 4/20 to 5:00 AM Friday 4/21
• 10:00 PM Friday 4/21 to 7:00 AM Saturday 4/22

Two northbound lanes closed in the area south of the toll plaza:
• 10:00 PM Friday 4/21 to 7:00 AM Saturday 4/22

Lane Closure at RFK Bridge Manhattan to Queens Ramp April 17-21 and 24-28

One of the two lanes will be closed on the Manhattan to Queens Ramp at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge to perform necessary rehabilitation of the roadway. The work will require nightly closures from 9pm to 5am beginning Monday April 17 through Friday April 21, and starting again Monday April 24 through Friday April 28. In addition, there will be intermittent 5-10 minute full closures of the ramp each night.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time or consider an alternate route.

Marine Parkway Bridge Closed Overnight: April 17-April 21 and April 24-26

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions during overnight hours from Monday, April 17 through Friday morning, April 21 and again from Monday, April 24 through Wednesday morning, April 26. All traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Schedule is as follows:

Lift Tests at RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Scheduled for Early Monday

Intermittent, full closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span are scheduled on Monday, April 10, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for maintenance work.

Each closure lasts approximately 20 minutes. Motorists may experience delays and should consider an alternate route.

Traffic Pattern Shift at Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Staten Island-bound Toll Plaza

Starting this weekend, a change in traffic pattern will be in place on the westbound (to Staten Island) toll plaza coming off the Upper and Lower Levels of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. The change is necessary to accommodate the next stage of work for installation of the Cashless Tolling structures and associated systems.

As with the previous stage, several toll lanes will be closed at a time to accommodate the work zone activity. All lanes on the upper and lower levels of the bridge itself will be maintained during peak hours.
