MTA Bridges and Tunnels' nine facilities handled 304.3 million trips in 2007, the most paid trips in the 72-year operating history of the agency, surpassing its previous record of 303 million set in 2004.
The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge carried the most traffic, with 70.3 million trips, followed by the Triborough Bridge with 62.5 million. The highest traffic was in August, when 27.2 million trips were made, while the single busiest day was Friday, June 22 with 973,864 single day trips. The record for 2007 represents an 0.74% increase over 2006 traffic.
