MTA LIRR Kicks Off "Winter Fun in the City" Sweepstakes with MasterCard

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will kick off its "Winter Fun in the City" Sweepstakes with a special event on February 28. The event takes place between 10 AM and 1 PM at the 34th Street Entranceway in Penn Station. Raffle prizes and giveaways will be given away, while supplies last, during the event. The Sweepstakes continues through March 15.

New MTA LIRR Timetables in Effect February 26; Include Construction and Track Work Programs Affecting Off-Peak and Weekend Train Service

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables will go into effect Monday, February 26. The new schedules will include service revisions necessary because of various track work and construction programs. The work will affect off-peak and weekend train service.

MTA LIRR 2006 Year-End Ridership Up, Highest Since 2002; on Time Performance Best in Four Years

In 2006, the MTA Long Island Railroad achieved its highest ridership since 2002, with 82.1 million customers riding LIRR trains. The figure represents a 2.4 percent increase over 2005, when 80.1 million riders were carried.

The ridership gains round out a year of improved performance, with 2006 bringing the Railroad its best year-end on-time performance figures since 2002. On-time performance for calendar year 2006 was 93.3 percent - a significant increase over 2005's 92.2 percent ranking.

MTA LIRR Mid-Day Main Line (East of Ronkonkoma) Train Service Affected by Track Work February 26-May 18

Mid-day weekday MTA Long Island Rail Road train service between Ronkonkoma and Greenport will be replaced with buses from February 26 through May 18 as track tie replacement and grade crossing renewal work is completed. Four trains, two eastbound and two westbound, between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM will be canceled during the work.

Eastbound
Customers on the 9:02 AM and 1:42 PM trains from Ronkonkoma to Greenport (10:27 AM) and Riverhead (2:27 PM) will board buses at Ronkonkoma through Southold Stations to complete their trips.

MTA LIRR on Regular Schedule with Off-Peak Fares in Effect for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 15

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will be operating on a regular weekday schedule Monday, January 15, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day.
