ICYMI: MTA Metro-North Railroad Hosts 10th Annual All Aboard to Save Lives Blood Drive

NEW YORK – In collaboration with New York Blood Center (NYBC), the MTA Metro-North Railroad is hosting its 10th annual blood drive on Friday, December 3rd from 9am-6pm in Vanderbilt Hall, Grand Central Terminal. To date, the organization’s blood drives have resulted in 2,271 donations, helping to save the lives of approximately 6,813 area patients. The MTA invites its employees, commuters, and the public at large to give the gift of life this holiday season and donate blood. In order to participate, all donors must wear a mask and show proof of vaccination.

MTA Awarded Nearly $20 Million to Upgrade Metro-North Grade Crossings, Make Other Safety Improvements

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that Metro-North Railroad will receive a $19.7 million federal grant to provide critical safety improvements to nine grade crossings on the Metro-North's Harlem Line. The grant was part of $40 million provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration this month.

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced the winners of its Third Annual Rail Safety Poster Contest that asked students from grades pre-K to 12 to create posters illustrating what they believe is most important about rail safety.

The contest was overseen by TRACKS, a community outreach and education program run by Metro-North’s Office of System Safety.  TRACKS stands for “Together Railroads And Communities Keeping Safe.”
