MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that as part of the complete upgrade of the New Canaan Branch signal system, crews will continue work installing Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment this weekend, May 17-19.
PTC is a technology designed to reduce the potential for human error that can lead to train-involved accidents. This weekend, crews will connect software required to make PTC operational on the branch.
Elsewhere along the branch, crews will upgrade a crossing mechanism at Omega Drive in Springdale, cut back tree branches and weld track.
