The LIRR's Summer Season is underway with the following service enhancements.

Hamptons Reserve Service Aboard Cannonball Express (Fridays Only)

If your destination is the Hamptons and Montauk, the LIRR's Hamptons Reserve Service aboard the Cannonball is the fast and hassle free way to go. For $37 before boarding ($43 when you pay onboard), you get a one-way reserved seat in a bi-level air-conditioned coach car with ergonomic two-by-two seating on a train that speeds east (Westhampton is the first stop) in time for you to make Happy Hour. Reservations guarantee your seat and our courteous attendants serve beverages and snacks. The $37 price includes a one-way off-peak rail ticket for $18.25 and a Hamptons Reserve seat charge of $18.75.

The Cannonball departs on Fridays at 4:06 PM from Hunterspoint Ave. (just a hop from Grand Central Terminal via the 7 subway), connecting at Jamaica Station with trains leaving Penn Station at 3:58 PM and Atlantic Terminal at 3:56 PM. The Cannonball travels express to Westhampton and then stops at Hampton Bays, Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk, making the entire trip in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Customers traveling to Amagansett are advised to sit in the third car from the rear of the train, directly in front of the reserved cars --only this car will platform at Amagansett Station.

Online reservations for Hamptons Reserve Service, which require credit card guarantee, are accepted beginning the Wednesday prior to the week you plan to travel through midnight the day before your trip. The LIRR will confirm your reservation by email and give you an assigned seat number or indicate that you have been placed on a waiting list. Seasonal reservations can also be made for the Hamptons Reserve service.

Customers not canceling by noon on Thursday will be charged $18.75 for the seat.
