J and M service changes on several fall 2026 weekends

For five weekends in October and November, there will be no J and M service between Brooklyn and Manhattan while we replace tracks and switches in the area. See service changes and travel alternatives, and get more information on this work.
Updated October 15, 2026 10:00 a.m.

What we're doing

On weekends from October 17 to November 23,  and   trains aren't running between Myrtle Av (Broadway) in Brooklyn and Manhattan for switch replacement work.

From 3:45 a.m. each Saturday to 10 p.m. each Sunday:

  •   trains are running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Myrtle Av.
  •   trains are running in two sections, every 20 minutes:
    • Between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
    • Between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Myrtle Av.

At Myrtle Av, all   and   trains are boarding at the Manhattan-bound platform during this time.

Service alternatives

  • For service to/from Flushing Av, Lorimer St, Hewes St, Marcy Av, and Delancey St-Essex St, take free T432 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all stops.
    • For service between Williamsburg and the Lower East Side during the day and evening, consider the B39 bus.
  • For direct service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, transfer to:
    •     trains from the   at Broadway Junction.
    •   trains from the   at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
  • For service to/from Bowery, Canal St, Chambers St, Fulton St, and Broad St, take the     from nearby stops.
  • When exiting the subway at Myrtle Av or Delancey St-Essex St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

Why we're doing it

We're replacing switches at and around  Marcy Av that have reached the end of their useful life. These switches are essential for trains to move between the local and express tracks on the     lines, but haven't been replaced since the 1990s. While we do this, some essential track, bridge inspection, and other work will be completed as well.
