There will be service changes while we replace switches. Here’s what you need to know.
Updated March 2, 2026 10:00 a.m.

What we're doing

From January 5 to late February 2026, there will be service changes on the    lines between the Bronx and Manhattan:

  • During weeknights from January 5 to February 27,   trains didn't run between 149 St-Grand Concourse and 125 St, and will run in two sections.
  • During weekends from January 30 to February 23,    trains didn't run between 149 St-Grand Concourse and 125 St, and   trains ran in two sections.
  • During weekdays from February 2 to February 18,    trains ran less frequently and at reduced speeds.

Why we're doing it

We're replacing switches north of 125 St on the Jerome Av Line, which carries the    trains between the Bronx and Manhattan. These switches were last replaced in 1988 and have reached the end of their useful lives. Replacing them will help us continue to deliver reliable service to the approximately 1.1 million riders who rely on these lines every day.

Weeknight service changes, January 5-February 27

From 11:45 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday to Friday,   trains didn't run between 149 St-Grand Concourse and 125 St.

Weekend service changes, January 30-February 23

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (and 5 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, Presidents Day),   trains didn't run between 149 St-Grand Concourse and 125 St and   trains didn't run between E 180 St and Bowling Green.

Weekday service changes, February 2-18

During weekdays,    trains ran less frequently and at reduced speeds, and some trains were rerouted.
