MTA Weekender: July 25-28, 2025

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the last weekend in July! We hope you have some fun summer plans this weekend, and no matter what they are, transit is the best way to get there.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •    trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
  •   trains aren't running to/from Norwood-205 St.
  • Coney Island-bound   trains are running on the   from Canal St to DeKalb Av.
  • Bay Ridge-bound   trains are running on the   from Canal St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  •   trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
  •   trains aren't running at all.

Major subway service changes

   trains, the Bronx

   trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse, take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • Local, making all    stops between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
    • Nonstop between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse
  • When exiting the subway at E 180 St, 3 Av-149 St, or 149 St-Grand Concourse, get a GO Ticket from a station agent for re-entry.
  •   trains are running in two sections, every 12 minutes during the day and evening:
    • Between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St.
    • Between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.
  •   trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, every 12 minutes all weekend.
    • Between Bowling Green and 149 St-Grand Concourse and on the   to/from Burnside Av during the day and evening, every 20 minutes.
      • Burnside Av-bound trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse or from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Burnside Av. For service to/from bypassed stations, take the   .

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running to/from Norwood-205 St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Bedford Park Blvd and Norwood-205 St.
  •   trains are running between Bedford Park Blvd and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

     trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Coney Island-bound   trains are running on the   from Canal St to DeKalb Av to provide alternate service while   trains aren't able to access the track between these stations.
  • Bay Ridge-bound   and Coney Island-bound   local trains are running on the   from Canal St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, skipping DeKalb Av, and express to 36 St.
  • Coney Island-bound   local trains are skipping DeKalb Av and running express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St.
  • During late nights,  trains aren't running between Whitehall St-South Ferry and 59 St in either direction.
    •   trains are running between 59 St and Bay Ridge-95 St.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from stations between Canal St and DeKalb Av, take the  .
  • For service to/from stations between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take a Manhattan-bound local train.
  • During late nights:
    • For service to/from stations between Whitehall St-South Ferry and Jay St-MetroTech, take an Astoria-bound   or Coney Island-bound  .
    • For service to/from DeKalb Av, take the   or a Manhattan-bound    local train.
    • For service to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take    trains.
    • For service to/from local stations between Union St and 25 St, take a Manhattan-bound    local train.
    • For service to/from 45 St and 53 St, take the  .
  • At Canal St, downtown   trains are stopping at the   platform and downtown   and   local trains are stopping at the   platform.

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization.

  • For service between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  • When exiting the subway at Court Sq, Lorimer St (Metropolitan Av), or Bedford-Nostrand Avs, get a GO Ticket from a station agent for re-entry.
  •   trains are running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains aren't running from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service between Delancey St-Essex St and Myrtle Av, take the  .
  • For service between Myrtle Av and Middle Village-Metropolitan Av, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  • When exiting the subway at Myrtle Av or Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, get a GO Ticket from a station agent for re-entry.

Other subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx and Manhattan

Van Cortlandt Park-bound   trains are running nonstop from 215 St to Van Cortlandt Park-242 St from 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, uptown   trains aren't stopping at 50 St because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, use nearby 59 St-Columbus Circle or Times Sq-42 St or take a downtown local train.

From 9:45 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday, downtown   trains aren't stopping at 50 St because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, use nearby Times Sq-42 St or 59 St-Columbus Circle or take an uptown local train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

City Terminal Zone

From 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica because of switch replacement.

  • For service to/from Brooklyn, take the subway.
    • Show your LIRR ticket to enter the subway at no additional cost at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport  , Broadway Junction     , Nostrand Av   , Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr        , or 34 St-Penn Station   .

From 9 p.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Sunday, westbound trains aren't stopping at Forest Hills or Kew Gardens and westbound trains from Jamaica aren't stopping at Woodside. This is because of accessibility work.

  • Westbound trains are running nonstop from Jamaica to Manhattan. Port Washington Branch trains are still stopping at Woodside.
  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take the subway.
    • Show your LIRR ticket to enter the subway at no additional cost at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport   , Kew Gardens-Union Tpke   , Forest Hills-71 Av    , or Woodside-61 St  .
