MTA Weekender: July 4-7, 2025

There are service changes on the subway this holiday weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Fourth of July weekend! Subways and buses are running on a Saturday schedule on Friday, July 4, with enhanced afternoon and evening service on some subway lines for the fireworks. There are also holiday service changes on the LIRR and Metro-North. So, before you head out for the holiday, be sure to read all our holiday service information. Note that the weekend service changes below will not be in effect during the day or evening on Friday.

If you're traveling to JFK airport  this weekend, note that  ​ trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. Take the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the  ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running between 168 St and 137 St-City College.
  •   trains aren't running in Brooklyn.
  •   trains aren't running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St.
  •   trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.
  •   trains aren't running between Lorimer St and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
  • 96 St-bound   trains are running on the   from DeKalb Av to Canal St.
  • Forest Hills-bound   trains are running on the   from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Canal St, skipping DeKalb Av.

Major subway service changes

  trains, Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between 168 St and 137 St-City College in either direction and are running in two sections:

  • Between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 168 St, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  • Between 137 St-City College and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take free shuttle buses, which are running between 168 St and 137 St-City College making all   stops. Or, use nearby    stations.
    • When exiting the subway at 168 St or 137 St-City College, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

  trains, Brooklyn

  trains aren't running in Brooklyn from 1 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take    trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take the  , which is running to/from New Lots Av all weekend, including overnight.
  •   trains are running between Woodlawn and Bowling Green.

  trains, the Bronx

Until 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St in either direction because of track replacement.

  • For service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, take free Bx90 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  •   trains are running between E 180 St and Bowling Green, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  •   trains aren't running overnight.

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck   and Crescent St, making all   stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the  .
  • For service to JFK Airport , take the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the  ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.
  •   trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.

  trains, Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Lorimer St and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs in either direction and are running in two sections:

  • Between 8 Av and Lorimer St, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  • Between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between Lorimer St and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Lorimer St/Metropolitan Av or Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, take     trains.

     trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • 96 St-bound   trains are running on the   from DeKalb Av to Canal St.
  • Manhattan-bound   and   local trains are running express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and on the    to Canal St, skipping DeKalb Av.
  • Manhattan-bound   local trains are running express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and are skipping DeKalb Av.
  • During late nights,  trains aren't running between Whitehall St-South Ferry and 59 St in either direction.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from stations between 36 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take a Bay Ridge-bound   or Coney Island-bound    local train.
  • For service to/from stations between DeKalb Av and Canal St, take a 96 St-bound  .
  • During late nights:
    • For service to/from stations between Whitehall St-South Ferry and DeKalb Av, take a 96 St-bound  .
    • For service to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take    trains.
    • For service to/from local stations between Union St and 25 St, take a Coney Island-bound    local train.
    • For service to/from 45 St and 53 St, take the  .
  • At Canal St, uptown   trains are stopping at the   platform and uptown   and   local trains are stopping at the   platform.

Other subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from Hunts Point Av to 3 Av-138 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train.
  • At 3 Av-138 St, all trains are boarding from the Pelham Bay Park-bound platform.

    trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Uptown   and   local trains are running express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
  • Uptown   trains are running express from Canal St to 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Spring St and 23 St, take a downtown local train.
  • For service to/from 50 St, take the  .

    trains, Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Manhattan-bound   and   local trains are running express from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to Queens Plaza.
  • Manhattan-bound   local trains are running express from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to 21 St-Queensbridge.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Forest Hills-bound   or Jamaica-bound    local train.
