MTA Weekender: May 2-5, 2025

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the first weekend in May! If the change in month puts you in the mood to see some May flowers, consider taking the Franklin Av Shuttle to Botanic Garden in Brooklyn (the cherry blossoms are in peak bloom) or Metro-North to Botanical Garden in the Bronx.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •    trains aren't running between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St.
  • Jamaica Center-bound   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.
  • Downtown   trains are running on the   from 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr to 2 Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av and are running in two sections.
  •   trains aren't running between Hewes St and Broad St.
  •   trains aren't running between Myrtle Av and Delancey St-Essex St.
  •   trains aren't running between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

Major subway service changes

   trains, Brooklyn

   trains aren't running between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of station work.

  • For service between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av, take free B99 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all    stops.
  •   trains are running between Harlem-148 St and Crown Heights-Utica Av during the day and evening.
  •   trains are running between Woodlawn and Crown Heights-Utica Av at all times.

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, take free Bx90 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  •   trains are running between E 180 St and Bowling Green during the day and evening.

    trains, Manhattan and Queens

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Jamaica Center-bound   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.
  • Downtown   trains are running on the   from 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr to 2 Av.
  • Uptown   and   local trains are running express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
  • Downtown   trains are running local from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St all weekend.

This is because of signal modernization, track replacement, and station work.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza:
    • During the day and evening, take the  .
    • Overnight, take free Q96 shuttle buses, which are running between Court Sq-23 St and 21 St-Queensbridge, stopping at Queens Plaza. When exiting the subway at Court Sq-23 St, Queens Plaza, or 21 St-Queensbridge, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
    • Or, use nearby Queensboro Plaza   .
  • For service to/from Court Sq, take the  .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/53 St, use nearby Lexington Av/59 St   .
  • For service to/from 5 Av/53 St, use nearby   stations at 57 St or 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr.
  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the  .
  • For service to/from 50 St and 23 St, take a downtown    train or use nearby   stations along 6 Av.
  • For service to/from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, 34 St-Penn Station, 14 St, Canal St, and World Trade Center (Chambers St), take    trains.
  • For service to/from Spring St, take a downtown   or   local train.

   trains, Brooklyn

From 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av in either direction, and are running in two sections:
    • Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
    • Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn, every 20 minutes.
  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running express from Jay St-MetroTech to Kings Hwy.

This is because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from 7 Av and Church Av, take the  .
  • For local service to    stations between Bergen St and Church Av and   stations between Church Av and Kings Hwy, take a Kings Hwy- or Coney Island-bound  .
  • To connect between   and   trains, take    trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Jay St-MetroTech.

  trains aren't running between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Kings Hwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For direct service between Manhattan or Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take    trains.
  •   trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Kings Hwy.

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Hewes St and Broad St in either direction. 
    •  ​ trains are running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Hewes St.
  •   trains aren't running between Myrtle Av and Delancey St-Essex St in either direction.
    •  ​ trains are running between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between Myrtle Av and Hewes St, take the ​ .
  • For service between Hewes St and Delancey St-Essex St, take free B106 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and stopping at Marcy Av.
    • When exiting the subway at Hewes St or Delancey St-Essex St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, take   trains.
  • For service to Lower Manhattan, take     trains.

  trains, Brooklyn

  trains aren't running between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Kings Hwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For direct service between Manhattan or Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take    trains.
  •   trains are running between 96 St and Kings Hwy, every 10 minutes during the day and evening.

Other subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from Van Cortlandt Park-241 St to 215 St from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Van Cortlandt Park-bound train.

    trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound    and   local trains aren't stopping at Grand Army Plaza from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Flatbush Av-bound   or Crown Heights-bound   or   local train. Or, use nearby Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum or Bergen St stations.

Flatbush Av-bound   and Crown Heights-bound   and   local trains aren't stopping at Grand Army Plaza from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound    or   local train. Or, use nearby Bergen St or Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum stations.

  trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from Parkchester to Hunts Point Av from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train.

  trains, Queens

Flushing-bound   trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • At Junction Blvd, all trains are boarding from the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • Starting 3 a.m. Monday through the first quarter of 2026, Flushing-bound   trains won't stop at 103 St-Corona Plaza.

  trains, Manhattan

Downtown   trains aren't stopping at 155 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take an uptown train.

    trains, Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Bay Ridge-bound   and Coney Island-bound    local trains are running nonstop from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St. This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

    trains, Queens

Forest Hills-bound   and Jamaica-bound    local trains aren't stopping at 67 Av from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train.

Manhattan-bound   and    local trains aren't stopping at 67 Av from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Forest Hills-bound   or Jamaica-bound    local train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

City Terminal Zone

From 11 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday:

  • Westbound trains aren't stopping at Kew Gardens or Forest Hills.
  • Westbound trains from Jamaica aren't stopping at Woodside.
    • Port Washington Branch trains are still stopping at Woodside in both directions.

This is because of accessibility work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, present your LIRR ticket to a station agent to enter the subway at the following stations at no cost:
    • Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport   
    • Kew Gardens-Union Tpke   
    • Forest Hills-71 Av    
    • Woodside-61 St  

West Hempstead Branch

West Hempstead Branch trains aren't running between Valley Stream and West Hempstead in either direction from 5 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Valley Stream and West Hempstead, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • For service to/from St. Albans, take Babylon Branch trains, which are stopping at this station.
  • West Hempstead Branch trains are running between Grand Central and Valley Stream.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.
