MTA Weekender: May 9-12, 2025

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the second weekend in May! May is Bike Month, and bikes and transit go great together, so consider taking your bike on board this month and exploring the region.

If you're traveling to JFK airport  this weekend, note that  ​ trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. Take the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the  ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •   trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
  • Downtown   trains are running on the   from 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr to 2 Av.
  • Uptown   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to W 4 St-Washington Sq.
  •   trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.
  •   trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St and are running in two sections.
  •   trains are running on the   between 21 St-Queensbridge and 57 St-7 Av.

Major subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 238 St.
  •   trains are running between 238 St and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

    trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Downtown   trains are running on the   from 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr to 2 Av
  • Uptown   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to W 4 St-Washington Sq.
  • Downtown   and   local trains are running express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St.

This is because of signal modernization.

  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the  .
  • For service to/from 50 St and 23 St, take an uptown    or   local train.
  • For downtown service to/from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, 34 St-Penn Station, and 14 St take    trains.
  • For service to/from Spring St, take an uptown   or   local train.
  • For service to/from Canal St and World Trade Center (Chambers St), take    trains.

  trains, Brooklyn

  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av take free B90 shuttle buses, which are making all   stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Church Av or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For direct service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take  ​​​   trains.
  • For service to W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the ​ .
  •   trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck   and Crescent St, making all   stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the  .
  • For service to JFK Airport , take the   to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the  ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.
  •   trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St in either direction, and are running in two sections:

  • Between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza.
  • Between Times Sq-42 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

This is because of electrical work.

  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the  .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St    .
  • For service to/from 57 St-7 Av and 49 St, take    trains.
    •   trains are running local between 57 St-7 Av and Canal St in both directions all weekend.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains are running on the   between 21 St-Queensbridge and 57 St-7 Av in both directions during the day and evening Saturday and Sunday.

  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St or 5 Av/59 St, use nearby Lexington Av/63 St     or 59 St    .
  • For service to/from Queens Plaza, take the  .
  • After 9:45 p.m. Queens-bound   trains are running on the   from 57 St-7 Av to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.

Other subway service changes

   trains, Manhattan

Downtown   and   local trains are running nonstop from 14 St to Chambers St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of drainage work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown local train.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 8 minutes and   trains are running every 12 minutes while     trains share a track.

   trains, the Bronx

Wakefield-bound   and Eastchester-bound  trains are running nonstop from 3 Av-149 St to E 180 St from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains aren't stopping at Parkchester from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train.

  trains, Manhattan

Downtown   trains aren't stopping at 155 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take an uptown train.

    trains, Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Bay Ridge-bound   and Coney Island-bound    local trains are running nonstop from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St. This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

   trains, Queens

Jamaica-bound    trains aren't stopping at 75 Av from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train.

Manhattan-bound    trains aren't stopping at 75 Av from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Jamaica-bound train.

  trains, Manhattan

Uptown   trains aren't stopping at 14 St or 23 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown train.
  • Uptown   trains are stopping at the express platform from W 4 St-Washington Sq to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr.

  trains, Manhattan

Brooklyn-bound   trains aren't stopping at Canal St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Broad St-bound train.

Broad St-bound   trains aren't stopping at Canal St from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound train.
