MTA Weekender: October 17-20, 2025

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday! It's Open House New York Weekend, when sites across the five boroughs open their doors to the public. We hope you have plans to get out and explore something new this weekend. No matter where your adventures take you, public transit can take you there.

Heading out of town instead? If your destination is the Oyster Fest in Oyster Bay, the LIRR has extra service for you Saturday and Sunday on the Oyster Bay Branch.

An important heads up for   train riders: This weekend,   trains aren't running between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards. Consider taking     trains, the   42 St Shuttle, or the LIRR. Keep scrolling for more details, and view a map of the changes

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running in most of the Bronx and Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from E 180 St to 3 Av-149 St.
  •   trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester. 
  •   trains aren't running between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  •   trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pwky.
  •    trains are running on the   between Brooklyn and Manhattan
  •   Staten Island Railway isn't running between St George and Great Kills.

Major subway service changes

    trains, Bronx

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday:

  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from E 180 St to 3 Av-149 St.
  • Manhattan-bound    trains bypass 138 St-Grand Concourse.
  •   trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse in either direction and are running in two sections:
    • Between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
    • Between Bowling Green and 149 St-Grand Concourse and on the   to/from Burnside Av during the day and evening, every 20 minutes.
      • Burnside Av-bound trains aren't stopping from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Burnside Av. For service to/from bypassed stations, take the   .

This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from 138 St-Grand Concourse, take a northbound train.
  • For service to/from bypassed stations between E 180 St and 3 Av-149 St, take a Wakefield-bound  .

  trains, Bronx

  trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement work.

  • Free shuttle buses are running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester making all   stops.
  •   trains are running between Parkchester and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, every 8 minutes during the day and evening. 

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains aren't running between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 3:30 a.m. Monday because of track replacement. 

  •   trains are running between Flushing-Main St and 74 St-Broadway, every 8 minutes during the day and evening. 
  • Flushing-bound   trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point.
  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take     trains. Extra service is running on the   during the day and evening.
  • The LIRR will also accommodate subway riders traveling between Queens and Manhattan at no additional cost at Flushing, Mets-Willets Point, Woodside, Grand Central, and Penn Station.
  • For service in Queens and Manhattan, take free shuttle buses, which are running on three routes: 
    • Q107, making local   stops between 74 St-Broadway and Queensboro Plaza.
    • Q93, making local stops between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av.
    • Q92 overnight in Manhattan between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  • For service to/from local stations between Mets-Willets Point and 74 St-Broadway, take a 74 St-bound   train.
  • At 74 St-Broadway and Junction Blvd, Flushing-bound   trains are boarding at the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • When exiting the subway at 74 St-Broadway/Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av, Queensboro Plaza, or Court Sq, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •   42 St Shuttle​ trains are running at all times, including overnight, between Times Sq-42 St and Grand Central-42 St.

  trains, Brooklyn

  trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, take free T426 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations.
  • When exiting the subway at Broadway Junction or Junius St   (Livonia Av), get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter. 
  •   trains are running between 8 Av and Broadway Junction, every 8 minutes during the day and evening and 12 minutes overnight.

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday: 

  •    trains are running via the   between DeKalb Av and Canal St in both directions.
    • At Canal St,    trains are stopping at the   platform.
  • During late nights,   trains aren't running between Whitehall St-South Ferry and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction, and are running nonstop between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St in both directions.
    • Late-night  ​​ trains are running between Bay Ridge-95 St and 36 St and nonstop to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 10 minutes.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations in Manhattan, use nearby    or   stations.
  • For service to/from Court St and Jay St-MetroTech, use nearby Borough Hall   .
  • During late nights:
    • For service to/from DeKalb Av, take     trains.
    • For service between Union St and 25 St, take    trains. 

  Staten Island Railway

Trains aren't running between St George and Great Kills in either direction from 1:15 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday because of maintenance. 

  • For service between St George and Great Kills, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all stops.

Other subway service changes

    trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound    and   local trains are running nonstop from Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement. 

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Flatbush Av-bound    or New Lots Av-bound   or   local train.
  •   and   trains are running every 12 minutes during the day and evening.

   trains, Manhattan

Downtown   and   local trains are running nonstop from 125 St to 59 St from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance. 

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown   or   local train. 
  • You can also use nearby   stations. Transfer between the    and   trains at 59 St-Columbus Circle or 168 St. 
  • Reminder:   trains do not run overnight.

   trains, Brooklyn

Coney Island-bound   and Church Av-bound   trains aren't stopping at 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound   or Court Sq-bound   train.

  trains, Brooklyn

Coney Island-bound   trains are running on the   from 36 St to Coney Island-Stillwell Av from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of structural rehabilitation. 

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound  .

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Babylon Branch

Babylon Branch service is reduced and running on a revised schedule from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • Trains are running every hour during most of the day, and all trains are running run to/from Penn Station.
    • For service to/from Grand Central, transfer at Jamaica.
  • To provide additional service at Babylon Station, many Montauk Branch trains have been extended to and from Jamaica.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

Greenport Service

Trains aren't running between Ronkonkoma and Greenport on Saturday and Sunday because of switch work.

  • For service between Ronkonkoma and Greenport, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

Ronkonkoma Branch

Ronkonkoma Branch service is running on a revised schedule and is reduced east of Farmingdale from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of switch work.

  • Trains are running every hour between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. During the day, every other train will run between Penn Station and Farmingdale only.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

West Hempstead Branch

West Hempstead Branch service isn't running between Valley Stream and West Hempstead in either direction from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Valley Stream and West Hempstead, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • West Hempstead Branch trains are running between Grand Central and Jamaica. Take a Long Beach Branch train to Valley Stream to connect with bus service.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.
