MTA Weekender: September 5-8, 2025

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the first full weekend in September!

A heads up for our Roosevelt Island   riders: This station is temporarily non-accessible from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Elevators to the platform are still available, but stairs are required to enter and exit the station. Take the Q102 bus to/from 21 St-Queensbridge for an accessible trip.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  •   trains aren't running between Dyckman St and 137 St-City College.
  •   trains aren't running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Altantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Hts-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
  • Inwood-bound   trains are running on the   from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq.
  • 168 St-bound   trains are running on the   from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq and on the   to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
  • Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the   from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to 36 St.
  • Queens-bound    trains are running on the   from DeKalb Av to Canal St.
  •   Staten Island Railway isn't running between Jefferson Av and Huguenot and are running in two sections.

Major subway service changes

  trains, Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains aren't running between Dyckman St and 137 St-City College in either direction, and are running in two sections:

  • Between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and Dyckman St, skipping 207 in the Dyckman St-bound direction, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
  • Between 137 St-City College and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service between Dyckman St and 137 St-City College, take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • On Broadway between Dyckman St and 137 St-City College, making all   stops and Dyckman St  .
    • On St Nicholas Av between 168 St and 191 St.
  • For service to/from 207 St, take an uptown train. Or, take the   at nearby Inwood-207 St.
  • When exiting the subway at Dyckman St, 168 St, or 137 St-City College, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

   trains, Brooklyn

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av.
    •   trains are running between Harlem-148 St and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and on the   to/from Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College during the day and evening.
  •   trains aren't running between Altantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Hts-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
    •   trains are running between Woodlawn and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 10 minutes.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take    trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • Local between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, making all    stops.
    • Nonstop between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and making all    stops between Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and New Lots Av.

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Inwood-bound   trains are running on the   from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq.
    • Uptown   trains are running local from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
  • 168 St-bound   trains are running on the   from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq and on the   to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

This is because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from High St, use nearby York St  .
  • For service to/from Fulton St, use nearby World Trade Center  .
  • For service to/from Chambers St (World Trade Center), Canal St, and Spring St, take the  .
  • For service between W 4 St-Wash Sq and 59 St-Columbus Circle, take    trains.

  trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the   from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to 36 St from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Coney Island-bound  .

   trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Queens-bound   and   local trains are running on the   from DeKalb Av to Canal St.
    • At Canal St, uptown    trains are stopping at the   platform.
  • During late nights,   trains aren't running between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction, and are running nonstop between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St in both directions.
    • Late-night  ​​ trains are running between Bay Ridge-95 St and 36 St and nonstop to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 10 minutes.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Jay St-Metro-Tech and Court St, use nearby Borough Hall   .
  • For service to/from stations between Whitehall St-South Ferry and City Hall, use nearby   or   stations.
  • During late nights:
    • For service to/from DeKalb Av, take     trains.
    • For service between Union St and 25 St, take    trains.

  Staten Island Railway

From 1:15 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Jefferson Av and Huguenot and are running in two sections:

  • Between St George and Jefferson Av.
  • Between Huguenot and Tottenville.

This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service between Jefferson Av and Huguenot, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all stops.

Other subway service changes

   trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains aren't stopping at Jackson Av from 4:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday and   trains aren't running between E 180 St and Bowling Green until 10 a.m. Sunday. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Jackson Av, take a Wakefield-bound train.

   trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound    trains are skipping 138 St-Grand Concourse from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound   or Eastchester-bound   train.

   trains, Manhattan

Downtown   and   local trains are running express between 125 St and Grand Central-42 St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of communications work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown local train.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 20 minutes and   trains are running every 8 minutes while     trains share the express track.

  trains, Brooklyn

Coney Island-bound   trains aren't stopping at Avenue U from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • At Kings Hwy, all trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

West Hempstead Branch

West Hempstead Branch trains aren't running between Valley Stream and West Hempstead in either direction from 5 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Valley Stream and West Hempstead, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • West Hempstead Branch trains are running between Grand Central and Valley Stream.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.
