Service changes on the G line in 2026

There will be recurring service changes on the G line in 2026. Here's what you need to know.
Updated July 23, 2026 9:00 a.m.

What we're doing

There are ongoing service changes on the   line in 2026 as we continue signal modernization and other supporting work.

In August and September,   trains are:

  • Part suspended in both directions, and skipping stops in one direction:
    • Weeknights:
      • September 14-18
    • Weekends:
      • September 11-14 and September 25-28
  • Skipping local stops between Smith-9th Sts and Church Av in one direction:
    • Weeknights:
      • August 31-September 4 and September 21-15
    • Weekends:
      • Labor Day weekend (September 4-8) and September 18-21
    • Weekdays:
      • September 8-11 and September 14-18

We'll continue to provide detailed service changes and travel alternatives as they become available.

Why we're doing it

Some of these changes are related to our ongoing effort to modernize signals on the   line. While service is suspended, our crews will work on installing equipment, including cables, that will support the new signaling system.

Other changes are related to ongoing accessibility improvements, structural work, and track maintenance, which is necessary to keep the line in a state of good repair—and ensure you have a smooth ride.
