To prepare for and complete this work, service is also altered during middays in the weeks before and after the 10-day shutdown at Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy. Check planned service changes for more information and travel alternatives for the weekday changes.
Why we're doing it
We're replacing switches near the 's southern terminal at Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy that have reached the end of their useful life. This set of switches allow trains to move between tracks in either direction, so that they can enter and exit the terminal.
We're also replacing tracks in the area. The new switches and track will allow for more efficient service and a smoother ride in and out of the station.
Running trains in two sections during the day allows us to run as many trains as we can while service at Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy is suspended.
